I am a postpartum doula serving families on Whidbey Island.
It takes a village…
…but what do you do if you are separated from your village or don’t have one yet? Today’s parents are often child-rearing without anything resembling a village to help them. Separated from friends and family, due to work, cost of living, etc, it can be difficult to build a care network from scratch, especially in the exhausting newborn days. We are not meant to raise our children in isolation. We are meant to raise our children with a village.
Receiving help from a postpartum doula can help fill in any care gaps you may have, ease your worries as you learn to care for your new family and newborn baby, and reassure you that you are not alone in your parenthood journey. Your doula will become part of your village.
